THOM TRAUNER
Pursuit01

With his large panel pictures Thom Trauner forces us to refocus and look behind things. He is uncomfortable, socio-politically controversial and as a painter a great talent.

Josef Aigner (Salzkammergut Rundschau)

To look deeper, not to stop at the surface and the apparent clarity – that is one credo of Trauner’s work.
Reinhold Gruber (OÖ-Nachrichten)

Thom Trauner questions media reality. That perhaps is also why he uses the reduced colours of the media. He applies the colours white, red, yellow, blue and black one after the other, unmixed onto the canvas, similar to offset printing. It is only in the final phase of the painting process, the mixing of oils on the canvas with a clean brush, now no longer concentrated on the subject, that Thom Trauner condenses his interpretation of truth.
